Is organic food better for you?

A four year study by Newcastle University to find the answer to the perennial question: "Is organic food better for you?" has just been completed. So now it's official -- organic food is better!  This study has found compelling evidence organic food is not only good for the environment and wildlife, it's also good for humans!

Studies were carried out on farms throughout the European Union, whereby farms were split in half, with one half producing organic food, whilst the other half concentrated on non-organic production.

This split testing prevented climatic and other conditions from distorting the findings.

Results on crops, such as wheat, potatoes, lettuce, onions and cabbage, showed an increase in vital nutrients ranging from 20 - 40%. So the clear answer is that organic food is better

And if anyone is still wondering is organic food better for you, here's an even more compelling result. The difference in organic and non-organic milk was an astonishing 80% in favor of organic.

Although this result looks astonishing, it's actually not that hard to understand. It is widely known the use of antibiotics on humans has a severe effect on the beneficial bacteria in the stomach and intestines, so anyone on antibiotics should eat live yogurt to redress the balance.

When you consider that cows have not one-- but three -- stomachs, it's not hard to see how the absence of antibiotics (as is the case with organic herds) allows the cows to produce better quality milk.

So when someone asks you, "Is organic food better for you?", you can reply with confidence: "Yes, organic food is better!".
