I know what you're thinking. Now you know the answer to: "Why is junk food bad for you?", you're wondering if that's true, why is it so universally available?
That's because real food doesn't leave much scope for a profit. Real food is nutrient-rich and alive and the biggest problem with lively food is it deteriorates fast. Chilling or freezing some foods is one answer. But lively, totally beneficial foods, like olive oil, for example cause food manufacturers problems. So, purely for their convenience and profit, food processors require food with a long shelf life. preferably without costly refrigeration. So food scientists came up with hydrogenated vegetable oil.
This is a Frankenstein fat and definitely not something you want in your body. Yet, despite that, it is found in pretty much every processed food from cookies to pizzas. But now, the tide is beginning to turn and -- now that more people are aware of this dangerous artificial fat -- some manufacturers are scoring points over their rivals by ceasing to use it in their products.
Such is the miraculous nature of our bodies, they can withstand this onslaught of empty junk food and go on for years before putting up the white flag in the form of heart disease, impotence, kidney stones, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, gall bladder stones, arthritis and gout.
Even then the double miracles of our bodies and wholesome food -- if allowed to work without the "added value" and "convenience" of the food processor's input can still save the day.
